Three-star linebacker Chandler Wooten, from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb, committed to Auburn in May and isn’t shy about letting Georgia fans in his home state hear about it.
“There are a lot of Georgia Bulldog fans around here,” Wooten told GN. “Every time I see one, I just let them know ‘War Eagle.’ That’s all I gotta say to them.”
Wooten liked everything Auburn had to offer.
"Just the family atmosphere at Auburn -- I feel like I fit great there both academically and athletically," Wooten said. "My family loves it, I love it, I can see myself being there for the next four years. I feel it is a great decision for my future."
Wooten says he really hit it off with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn.
"I feel like he is a great coach," Wooten said. "When I told him (I was choosing Auburn), he was very excited. I talk to a lot of the staff on a regular basis; we have a great relationship."
Wooten (6 feet 2, 227 pounds) is excited to see how Auburn plans on using him.
"They feel like I can play a lot of different positions," he said. "They feel like I am a very versatile player."
Wooten also plans on being an early enrollee.
"Being an early graduate I will be there in January," he said. "Just to get on campus, get my classes started, getting to play spring ball. I can’t wait to be playing on the Plains one day."
Being able to play in the SEC is not lost on Wooten, who chose Auburn over Florida and Tennessee.
"Going to be on the biggest stage every week, week in and week out," he said. "Playing against not only the best guys in the south but in the nation. A lot of recruits grow up dreaming about playing in the SEC, and to see that dream come true is definitely a blessing, definitely grateful for it."
