Chavis Leaving LSU Would be Huge

There are many reports tonight about LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis leaving LSU for Texas A&M. Chavis, who came from Tennessee in 2008, would be a big loss for the Tigers. According to the Shreveport Times, part of the problem is that Chavis wants money similar to what Will Muschamp is making at Auburn. Chavis makes $1.3 million per year and reports are that he desires $1.7 million per year which is what Muschamp makes.

It’s time Aggie coach Kevin Sumlin got serious about his defense. Hiring Chavis would be one of his best moves yet. If Sumlin and his team want to make a move up the SEC divisional ladder, Chavis or someone like him needs to be hired.
