Four-star wide receiver Daquon Green grew up a fan of the Florida Gators and said he already is looking forward to suiting up for the Gators next year: “Be ready to see a show, that’s all I got to say.”
Green committed to Florida in July 2015, before the start of his junior season.
"My parents thought it was the best opportunity for me," Green told GN. "For most of my family that was their favorite team, so that played a role into it."
Green (6 feet 1, 185 pounds) is a national top-175 recruit considered to be among the top 25 wide receivers in the country. He has positive things to say about Florida coach Jim McElwain.
"I like everything about 'Coach Mac.' He’s a real energetic coach," Green said. "I will like to play in his system."
Green has starred for Tampa Bay Tech for the past three years, and Green’s high school coach, Jayson Roberts, says Florida is getting a high-level talent.
"One of the hardest workers I have been around," Roberts said. "He is an absolute freak when it comes to talent and ball skills."
Green is among 13 commitments Florida has received for the 2017 class. Green and four-star UF commitment Jake Allen, from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, are beginning to build a quarterback/receiver relationship.
"I am really excited to play with Jake Allen, and we are already making a bond," he said.
Roberts says other schools still are coming after Green.
"He's 100 percent Florida through and through," Roberts said. "But I know Michigan hasn't given up and Miami has been really persistent."
